objet libre

The three topics sound, body and form were the starting point for this project. We wanted to explore their relationship with the goal of designing a new acoustic body. For us, acoustic bodies are objects that release an interesting sound. The result is Objet Libre, a series of acoustic bodies consisting of six different objects, inspired by everyday objects that are pressed instinctively, such as a pen or a light switch. These objects make an interesting sound as a side function, but in their primary function they serve a different purpose. We have analysed the attraction of wanting to press them, triggered by their sounds, the various associations and emotions they trigger. What happens to these functional objects when you detach them from their task? What function remains? The sound? The emotions? We have removed their function and created new bodies for them, based on the context of operation, interaction, haptics and their original visual appearance. Objet Libre was shown in the House of Switzerland at Milan Design Week 2024.
